Privacy Policy

Last updated

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Princhet Infotech collects when you visit https://www.princhetinfotech.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us.

Who we are

Princhet Infotech is an independent editorial publication. For the purposes of data protection law, the publisher of Princhet Infotech is the controller responsible for personal information collected through this website. You can contact us about any privacy matter at info@princhetinfotech.com.

Information we collect

We aim to collect only what we need to run the site, understand how it is used and fund it through advertising.

Information collected automatically

  • Server and security logs. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records technical details when you request a page, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. These logs help us keep the site secure and working properly.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Cookies, local storage, pixels and similar tools may be used by us and by third parties such as advertising and analytics providers. They are described in detail below.

Information you choose to give us

  • Newsletter. If you sign up for a newsletter or email updates, we collect your email address and a record of your subscription, such as when you signed up.
  • Emails and messages. If you contact us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details, financial account numbers or government identifiers, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

How we use information

  • To deliver the website and its content to you, and to keep it secure, including detecting and preventing abuse, fraud and technical faults.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which articles are read and how the site is used, so we can improve it.
  • To display advertising that funds the publication, including personalised advertising where you have agreed to it or where the law permits.
  • To send you newsletters you have requested, and to stop sending them when you unsubscribe.
  • To reply to your messages, handle corrections and respond to privacy requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not use your information to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.

Our legal bases for using information

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data protection law requires us to have a legal reason, called a "legal basis", for using your personal information. In plain words:

  • Consent — where we ask for your permission, for example for non-essential cookies, personalised advertising or a newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — where using information is reasonably necessary to run, secure and improve a website people have chosen to visit, and this does not override your rights. Security logging is an example.
  • Contract — where we need to process information to provide something you have asked for, such as a newsletter subscription.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. Cookies and similar technologies allow a site or a third-party service to recognise your browser or device. They fall into broad groups:

  • Strictly necessary — needed for the site to function and to remember your privacy choices. These cannot be switched off through our consent tool.
  • Analytics or measurement — help us understand how visitors use the site.
  • Advertising — used to serve, measure and, where permitted, personalise advertisements, and to limit how often you see the same ad.

What this site stores on your device:

  • Your theme and your privacy choice (strictly necessary): your light or dark mode preference and your cookie choice are kept in your browser's local storage under the names obscura-theme and obscura-consent. They never leave your device. Your privacy choice is kept for 12 months, after which we ask again.
  • Google Analytics cookies (analytics, only if you allow them): _ga and _ga_*, which distinguish visits for up to two years.
  • Advertising cookies (advertising, only if you allow them and only once advertising is enabled on the site): set by Google and its partners as described below.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of the site work.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Princhet Infotech uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google, to display advertisements. Advertising helps keep our content free to read.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's My Ad Center.
  • You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. If you are in the EU, you can also visit www.youronlinechoices.eu.

If you opt out of personalised advertising, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you and may be based on general factors such as the content of the page you are reading or your approximate location.

Other third-party ad vendors or ad networks may also serve ads on our site through Google's platform. To learn more about how Google collects and uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Advertisers and ad networks do not receive your name or email address from us.

On your first visit, a cookie banner asks for your choice before any analytics or advertising cookies are set. You can accept all, reject all, or customise your choice for analytics and advertising separately. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the site works the same either way.

Until you choose, and if you reject, Google Analytics and Google advertising run in a restricted mode (Google Consent Mode): no cookies are set and no identifiers are stored, and Google receives only basic, cookieless signals, such as that a page was viewed, which it uses for aggregated measurement. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of personalised advertising.

If advertising is enabled for visitors from the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform may be shown instead. If you do not consent to personalised advertising, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which use fewer identifiers and are not based on your past browsing.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by selecting the "Privacy & cookie settings" link in the footer of any page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors find and use our site: for example which pages are popular, how far articles are read, which links are followed and how quickly pages load. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as pages viewed, interactions with the page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type and referring site. We use this information in aggregate and do not use it to identify individual visitors. We do not send names, email addresses or other information that directly identifies you to Google Analytics.

We use Google Consent Mode. Where consent is required, including for visitors from the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are only set once you have agreed; until then, Google receives only cookieless signals that cannot be used to recognise you. You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every website by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers who help us operate the site, such as hosting, security, email and newsletter providers, acting on our instructions.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, including Google, which collect information through cookies and similar technologies as described above.
  • Legal and safety reasons, where disclosure is required by law, or necessary to protect our rights, our users or the public.
  • Business changes, if the publication is transferred to a new owner, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

Under some US state laws, allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies for targeted advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See "US state privacy rights" below for how to opt out.

How long we keep information

  • Server logs are kept for a limited period, normally no longer than needed for security and troubleshooting.
  • Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe, after which we may keep a minimal record so we respect your choice.
  • Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.
  • Cookies remain on your device for differing periods, depending on the cookie and the provider. You can delete them at any time through your browser.

International transfers

Our service providers and advertising partners may process information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred to a country that does not provide an equivalent level of protection, we rely on recognised safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, or on the safeguards our providers have in place.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and limiting access to the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

EEA, UK and Swiss visitors

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • Rectification of information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Erasure of your information in certain circumstances;
  • Restriction of how we use your information in certain circumstances;
  • Portability, meaning a copy of information you gave us in a commonly used, machine-readable format;
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before you withdrew it;
  • Complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the country where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes and the categories of third parties we share it with;
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising (targeted advertising);
  • Non-discrimination, meaning we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

You can opt out of targeted advertising using the tools described above, through the "Privacy and cookie settings" link in the footer where available, or by emailing us. Where required by applicable law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser.

How to exercise your rights

Email info@princhetinfotech.com with your request. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorised agent where the law allows. Because we hold very little information that identifies individuals, some requests may concern data held by our advertising or analytics partners, in which case we will point you to the right place.

Children's privacy

Princhet Infotech is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and other places where a higher age applies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our articles link to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change the services we use or the law changes. The "last updated" date on this page shows when it was last revised. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to make them clear.
